Build it · Slot it in · Turn on the light

A tiny world between your books.

Shelfscapes are build-it-yourself miniature scenes that slide between the spines on your shelf and glow like a lit window at dusk. Around 300 pieces, a few slow evenings, and one small doorway your guests will kneel down to look into.

How it works

Three evenings. One small door.

Every kit arrives flat and complete — the pieces, the glue, the tweezers, the wiring. You bring the evenings.

Chapter I · Unbox
300 pieces

Everything is in the box

Laser-cut panels, printed miniatures, warm LED string, glue, tweezers, and instructions that assume nothing. No craft store run, ever.

Chapter II · Build
10–14 hours

The anti-doomscroll

A few slow evenings of tea, tweezers, and tiny window frames. Builders call it the most peaceful screen-free hobby they own.

Chapter III · Glow
24 cm tall

Slot it between the spines

Sized like a boxed set, it slides onto any standard shelf. Flick the switch and a street that doesn't exist turns its lamps on.

The collection

Three worlds. Collect the street.

The Midnight Library

A lamplit reading room after hours — ladders, low light, and one armchair nobody has left.

$59

The Alchemist's Lane

A crooked apothecary alley — bottle-green windows, hanging herbs, and something quietly bubbling.

$59

The Secret Bookshop

A bookshop no map admits to — two golden windows, shelves to the ceiling, always open.

$59

The gifting problem, solved

For the person whose shelf is already full.

Readers are impossible to buy for — they own the books, they have opinions about the editions, and another candle is not a personality. A Shelfscape is the gift that lives beside the books: hours of quiet making, then a permanent, glowing piece of their favourite shelf.

I.A hobby and an ornament in one box — the gift keeps working after it's built.
II.No sizes, no spoilers, no "I already have it" — the safest gift in the reading world.
III.Collectors come back — one world leads to a street.

Marginalia

Notes from the builders.

I bought one for my sister's birthday and ended up building it myself at 1am. Ordered two more before I'd even glued the little door on.
Priya · Toronto · The Secret Bookshop

“My husband hasn't touched his phone for three evenings straight. The kit gets the credit, not me.”

Eleanor · York · The Midnight Library

“It's the only object in my flat that visitors physically kneel down to look at.”

Marcus · Wellington · The Alchemist's Lane

Questions

Before you begin.

Do I need craft experience?

None. Instructions are numbered, pictorial, and assume you've never held tweezers. If you can fold a paper plane, you can raise a street.

What's actually in the box?

Laser-cut wooden panels, printed miniature details, a warm LED light string, craft glue, tweezers, and step-by-step illustrated instructions. Nothing else to buy — ever.

What powers the lights?

A small battery box or USB connection — low voltage, no heat, no mains wiring. Leave it glowing all evening without a second thought.

What if I lose a piece?

That's the missing-piece promise: email us the piece number and a replacement is in the mail, free, forever. No receipts, no photos, no interrogation.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days and ship flat with full tracking — typically 7–12 business days worldwide. The 30-day return window starts on delivery, not on ordering.

Is it suitable for kids?

Kits contain small parts and are designed for builders aged 14 and up. Younger makers do brilliantly with an adult on tweezer duty.

The missing-piece promise

Lose piece 183 under the couch? We post you another. Free. Forever.

No receipts, no interrogation — tell us the piece number and it's in the mail. And if your finished world doesn't earn its place on the shelf, you have 30 days and a full refund.
